What Our Customers Are Saying

We value all feedback from customers, but we love it when that feedback is positive because we know we are doing right by our fantastic customers & friends. Here are some of the comments we have had over the years:

Please pass along my appreciation for the excellent service received from your Service Department.  You went above and beyond, seeking out the right parts to retrofit my MTB into something of a cross bike.  The selection of parts and the quick service turnaround in time for a race this past weekend was greatly appreciated.  This is why I keep coming back to Gears.

Thanks again,
Rob

I just wanted to send a quick follow up email regarding my visit last week to see Ron and purchase the Specialized Venge that we spoke about:

This is my third road bike from you guys and I have to say that I couldn’t be happier with the level of customer service and objective advise that Ron offered while picking the bike up.  But not just that – because while I was being fit for the bike with Ian, my mind was completely blown with the whole experience! I have nothing but top level feedback for the amount of knowledge and customer satisfaction that your Toronto store provided me with.  And this is not just hot air, as the proof is in the results; on my very first ride I completely demolished my personal best time on the usual route that I do. Couldn’t be happier!!!

Please pass on my regards to both Ron and Ian and know that you have some top level employees that are making every single customer’s visit probably one of their most memorable. I am happy to know that every person I refer to your store will be in good hands.

Thanks again!

Hi Ira,

I met you at the bike show today and bought a Specialized Allez Elite road bike. I just wanted to thank you and your staff for their help today. I dealt with, your business partner and two of your amazing staff.  I am riding in the Friends for Life bike rally and I am totally overwhelmed by all the equipment and decisions I have to make both physically and financially to be prepared for the rally this summer. You and your staff put me at ease and I look forward to making all my future purchases with you. I work for Sobeys at a store and know what its like to deal directly with the public. I am aways trying my best to give great service when interacting with customers and know what that sometimes this can be frustrating from the retailers point of view. More so, I am continually disappointed by poor customer service given to me lately, everywhere I turn. I almost bought from three other places today but what I was impressed with was, the perceived possibility of future, great customer service from your store. Just wanted to say thanks and I look forward to doing business with you in the very near future. (As soon as I save up some more money)

Cheers,
Tim

Dear Mr. Wallace,

We wanted to write and thank you again for donating all those bikes today at the Pendrith Street event.

It is really wonderful of you to to be so generous with your time, and your bikes!

Enclosed is a thank-you note that my son Angus wrote for you. He is thrilled with his new bike, and looks forward to riding it to school tomorrow!

Thanks again,
Peter Atto (and Angus)

Gents, Ladies at Gears

The experience I had at Gears Bike shop on Vanderhoof Ave was… in a word… Amazing.

I have been to about 6 or 7 bike shops in the GTA trying to get my Trek Madone tuned up.  For one reason or another, the mechanics at these other shops didn’t hear what I was telling them.

Gears… Now that’s a different story.  I was greeted with smiles from everyone I spoke to.  Nobody made me feel like they were doing me a favor.  The young man at the service desk actually listened to what my concerns were and then made suggestions as to what I might have to do.

When I picked up my bike last night, it looked like new.  Shiny, sparkling.  It rode like a brand new bike.  I don’t remember enjoying a bike ride as much as I did last night.

Thank you folks for an amazing job.  I will definitely be coming back.

 Alberto Della Porta

Dear Gears Oakville,

I wanted to share with you my experience of buying my first road bike.

Prior to visiting a bike shop, I did some on-line research and thought I knew what I wanted to buy.  I started off by shopping based on price which lead me to a few shops in the west end of the GTA.  I quickly realized that there are a lot of stores out there that are only interested in just selling you whatever they can.  Making price my main decision making criterion, I ended up at one particular bike shop,  I thought I found the bike I wanted to buy.  On my way home, I decided to stop into the Gears store in Oakville (just to look around for fun).  As soon as I entered the store, I was greeted by a friendly sales person by the name of Erica.  I quickly told her that I already know what bike I wanted to buy and I already found it at a bike store nearby.  I told her that I did not need any help and that I wanted to just look around.  Erica was very respectful of what I told her but continued to engage me in general conversation about bikes.  During my conversation with Erica, Ian came by and joined into the conversation.  In the 10 minute conversation with Erica and Ian, I learned a lot more useful information about road bikes then all my on-line reading.  They were also more informative then any of the personal in the other stores I visited.

Even though Erica and Ian knew I have already found the bike I was going to purchase at another store, they still spent time educating me about what to look for when buying a bike and how a bike should feel.  They even took the time to set up 4 bikes for me to try.  Ian pointed out how each bike was different and helped me realize that there is a lot more to finding the right bike then just reading about the specs and worrying about price.  At the end of the process, I wanted to buy a bike from them but decided to go back to the other store to make the purchase based on pricing.  I told Erica and Ian my decision, which they respected.  They told me to come back if things did not work out.  I headed to the other store where I was met with staff that did not answer my questions correctly, did not want to set up the bike for me to test drive, and made me wait 45 min so that the sales rep that helped me previously could finish his lunch.  While waiting, I decided that saving a few bucks was not the right decision to make and left the store to head back to Gears Oakville.  When I got to the store, both Erica and Ian were both out of the store.  I was told to ask for Sasha which I did.  Sasha knew all the details from my initial visit with Ian and Erica and help me with everything I needed.  He was very attentive to all my needs and was happy to help me.  That day I purchased my first road bike at Gears Oakville and Sasha ensured the techs did a quick tuning before I left the store.  In addition, he made sure that before I left, I had a proper bike fitting scheduled.

I took the bike home and went for a few rides.  Everything Ian, Erica and Sasha said about the bike was bang on.  The bike felt amazing and I could not be happier.  I didn’t think the bike could feel any better, it felt well suited to me and my riding needs.  A few days later I took the bike back to the Gears Oakville for my scheduled fitting.  Sasha performed the fitting and explained to me the process.  His attention to detail was unreal an I felt he went above and beyond being just a bike rep but a real consultant.   After the fitting I took the bike home for a ride, it was perfect!  Since then I have been back to the store twice, both times, the staff remembered me and treated me like someone who has shopped at the store for years.  I am so happy I did not make the mistake of buying my bike at the “other” store.  I will never buy any bike or bike related product from any other store again.  Gears is the only place I will ever shop.

Thank you Erica, Ian, Sasha and the staff at Gears Oakville for all your help!

Hi Ira/Kevin

I wanted to thank Gears for the amazing job your guys did for me in the Sprint Toronto Triathlon I competed in today.

I ran over a chunk of steel and got a flat rear tire. Your SAG motor bike was one minute behind me and your guy (I didn’t get his name) removed the tire, taped it inside, installed a new inner tube, pumped the tire, put the wheel back on, and pushed me on my way, all in about 4 minutes!

I was still first in my age group of 70+!!!

So I qualified for The World Triathlon Championships in London in September 2013!!

This was a dream of mine so I really owe you guys!

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!

Charlie Barnes

Dear Ira: on Friday night my wife and I stopped into your store in Leaside as I was looking for road cycle and shoes for my recently purchased road bike. Sarah approached us with an offer of asiatance. I explained what I was looking for and she provided me with both entry level and pro level options. After settling on the appropriate shoes and pedals which was actually over my budget but from both a practical and long term point of view was a quality purchase. Sarah refered me to Aaron who customized my shoes, cleats and completed the installation of my pedals to my bike, While ensuring my shoes and pedals would provide me with the best possible riding experience.

RE: Profile Designs T2+ aerobar armrest (plastic, left)

You’ve hooked me up before with this exact same part.  You are my favourite bike shop by a country mile.  Scott Doel (sic) set me up on my tri bike a few years ago and it has been great ever since (except of course for the bloody armrest…).

Cheers.

Hey Scott,

We return to Toronto later today but before we do I wanted to give you and everyone that worked on the Shiv an update as to how things went.

I didn’t get the overall race time that I was looking for (98th out of approximately 2500 mainly due to a poor swim and, thanks to a broken foot in January, not being able to run until March). But I did ride my fastest ever Ironman bike leg (5:02 for an average of 22.18 MPH) and in some of the toughest conditions I have ever experienced (FYI, this was my 13th Ironman and the heat, humidity and wind were extreme – 30C before the humidity with a severe headwind).

So, in other words, the bike is absolutely freaking awesome!!!!

Thanks to your fit I finally feel like I am able to ride like I used to (i.e., before switching to the Kuota). The race was only the third time I have ridden outside this year and I know I am only going to get stronger before Ironman Mont Tremblant in August and Ironman Cozumel in November.

The only problem I had was nothing you could help me with – mathematics. I rode just over 22 MPH to break five hours. But 22 MPH divides equally into 110 miles – an Iroman bike leg is 112 miles and I forgot the other two!

In case anyone’s interested I’ve been posting pictures of the week on Twitter (www.twitter.com/garethscobie) via Instagram (you may need to click on the links) and will definitely be giving Gears some ‘social network love’ when I update Blogger (www.justanothertriathlonblog.blogspot.com).

Awesome job and many thanks Scott.
G.

Hello,

I was hoping to pass along some comments to the Store Manager
regarding a great experience I had with one of your employees last
week.

I came to the Oakville shop to have a stroller tire repaired, and an
employee named Randy Nicholson looked after me. It turned out to be a
little more difficult to repair the tire than first thought, so he
went out of his way to find an air pump that would fit in the small
spokes of the tire to inflate it. He went over to the CarStar garage
next door but unfortunately they inflated the tire too quickly and it
broke the plastic rim of the wheel. He was very apologetic to me, and
insisted he would get a replacement. This proved to be difficult to do
through warranty, so Randy found a store in Toronto that sold the
wheel replacements, went there and purchased one for me so I could
have use of my stroller for the long weekend. This was amazing
customer service. I feel badly he had to spend his own money and time
to get the wheel. My stroller is extremely important to me though, it
is like my car! I use it everyday with my two kids, so I was so
thankful to have it fixed the same day. This was my first time coming
into your store, and I will definitely return due to this experience.
Thank you again to Randy for providing such great customer service
after an unfortunate event with my repair.

Hi Ira,

After a discussion with Ian Garry at the Oakville store, I ended up buying a Cannondale Quick SL 1. The bike is excellent and I am very happy with the whole Gears experience. When I got the bike home I fully expected to have to make some brake, derailleur adjustments etc. This was not the case and a real nice surprise.

Thank you to everyone at Gears (especially Ian) and keep up the good work.

Regards,
Gerry

Hello there,

I came in today for some very simple service.  I needed the cones on my wheel adjusted. A couple friendly staff helped me today (unfortuantely I did not get their names), but I’d like to note that these two members are stellar. Not only did I receive prompt and courteous service, but it was done with incredibly great attitude and they were nice enough to do it for me free of charge (despite my offering to pay for it)!

It’s this friendly approach that really makes Gears Bike Shop wonderful.  It was my first time visiting and I was treated like a long time valued customer.  I certainly will be back! This kind of thing really makes your team stand out.

Thanks,
Shaun

Hi Ira,

Please know and share that staff whom assisted us last week were very pleasant, knowledgeable and professional. They made my first visit to Gears a very pleasurable experience. Great service !

Thank you,

John

Hi Ira,

I recently took my mountain bike in for service at your Oakville location. From start to finish, your service rep, was courteous and patient enough to answer all of my questions. I was totally at ease with my decision to have my bicycle repaired because I felt I could trust him  100%.

Great job.

Have a great day.
Roger

Hello,

My name is Leonard and I want to recognize and say Thank You to Gears for their help when I was purchasing my new bike last Thursday.

I’ve worked with some of the top customer services and sales rep in the field of Medical, Technology and Entertainment in both Canada and US and I’m glad to say that your team are one of the best I’ve met.

They are amazing, helpful and very knowledgeable of the products and services that you provide.

Again I just want to say thank you for your help.

Thanks,
Leonard

Hi Ira

First off, I have been really impressed with your store and staff.  I bought a Roubaix Expert at the spring bike show. I got my initial fit at the Port Credit location (and then a refit at your new location.  Everyone has been great.  You have built an enjoyable experience for the consumer.  Congrats.

Best Regards
Ian

Hi there,

I just wanted to let you know that I recently purchased a bike from your Port Credit Location and a couple of other things from your Leaside location, and overall the experience was great. I shopped around a lot before heading to Gears based on a friend’s recommendation and it was your customer service that ultimately closed the sale – highly trained and knowledgeable staff, low pressure sales environment and ZERO attitude.

I will be a loyal customer for years to come. Pat yourself on the back.

Lauren

Ira,

Four years ago , I  purchased my bike at your original location on the recommendation of my son who had already done the same and his friend Tom who had directed us to you.  I had already had a custom bike made for me and the geometry was all wrong at the end of the day.  My son insisted that If I was serious about long distance riding I must come to your shop (I live in Montreal) and buy a new bike.  I was so pleased with my purchase and fitting that I did write to you then as well to compliment your staff. Two years later I rode my bike across Canada with Sears National Cancer Ride.  I had not a single ache or pain in my body. Last week I embarked upon another long distance ride from Toronto to Montreal, a private ride to raise money for the same charity.  My riding partner was being loaned a bike to ride from Cannondale and we were directed to your FABULOUS new shop in Toronto to pick it up.  I was so impressed with with your staff and they went about fitting my friend that I asked if he could do a fitting on my husband, which he carried out brilliantly and then asked if he could have a look at mine as I was starting to feel my left knee which was a new thing.

All to say that this young man is truly a GENIUS at what he does! He is like a live” MRI” for the body on the bike!!!!!!!!  He is passionate, meticulous and super intuitive! He raised my seat 21/2 inches!!  I was told that one does not do such a thing at the end of a season and especially not just before a long distance 621km ride….. well I had just so much trust and confidence in him that I just went ahead and did it.  It was so amazing how much more power I could execute through my pedal stroke and I’m happy to report -not a hint of pain in my body!

I am a very hard marker and this kind of praise does not come too often from “critical” me! This man is truly deserving of recognition for his talents, patience, and also his know how to handle the likes of me who was insisting that the seat was too high.  He knew how to distract me, convince me and prove to me, in a very UNAGGRESSIVE manner , that he did indeed exactly what was needed to make my bike perfect. My riding buddies as well were equally impressed.

Most sincerely,
Beth

Gears,

Wanted to once again thank you for the great job you did on my bike.  This morning, I rode the MS ride in Niagara.  Rain.  Check.  Wet roads.  Check.  Bike working in perfect order.  Check.  Not only did it perform to perfection, I could clearly hear the bike spinning so smoothly.  Rode the 75km course at a blistering 29.9km/hr (did not stop at any of the rest stations).  I don’t usually ride long distances (> 20km) and only select 2 or 3 “Tours” a year to do.  The RONA MS was a dream of mine when I started cycling 3 years ago.  I owe my great results today to you for getting my bike back in working order.

Thanks again.

Leo

Hi!

My girlfriend and I were in the store on Tuesday night to buy a bike pump after having bought one at another store and had no luck with it it just didn’t work for us. You helped us out with a bike pump after I approached you saying help me find a pump that works and is around $50, well you helped us find the pump he showed us how to use it and then got me to try it and I did it with ease and I will have you know I came home and was able to do it with ease as well.  So we both wanted to let you know that Gears was VERY helpful, patient and understanding in helping us today.

Thank you again
Lisa and Marcelle

I wanted this e-mail to get to the bike fitter working at the Toronto location. My name is Kordan and I came into him for a bike fit on a Specialized Secteur about a month ago in advance of my triathlon. I just wanted to let him know that the bike feels amazing and rides so much better since I’ve been in. As well, he did an amazing job during the fit, spending time listening to what I wanted out of my bike and involving me in the process. It was the best experience I’ve had at a bike shop ever. Period. I will definitely be back to see him as I get stronger riding and need to bike to be a bit more aggressive, and Gears is my new favourite shop. Thanks so much!

Regards,
Kordan

Hey – at Paris to Ancaster this weekend two of your Wrenches helped me put my bike back together at the 55k mark of a race I was crushing!!

They ripped my already ripped off derailer off and made my horse into a one speed. Pulled out the eight spokes that had been ripped out, wrapped up the cables – ( probably made a bet how far I’d get) and then send me on my way. I had to run up the hills ( one speed not good for me…) but I could wobbly coast down the other side. They saved the race for me? I have no idea who they were but they were in a Gears trailer – THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU – you saved my day!!

Thanks

Dear Gears,

I love to champion great companies but the opportunity does not present itself very often — this is one of those opportunities – you have completely impressed me and I will be one of your most enthusiastic cheer-leaders!

Thank you for providing such a positive retail and service experience.

All the staff — were amazingly patient and helpful to me, my wife and daughter – thanks.

I will pop in soon to pay for and retrieve my improved ride!

Hey Ira;

I just wanted to let you know you have a star working for you.  You probably know already.  It was one of your mechanics working this afternoon.

Last week I brought my beater in to have a gear cable replaced and I ended up spending nearly $150 on getting lots of stuff fixed, including a tune-up. I rode it a couple of days later and the gears were skipping and rubbing and I was not happy.

I brought it in today and complained and this guy was awesome.  He immediately apologized and took it behind the counter and fixed the gears right away.  He didn’t stop there- he also checked over and adjusted everything else to make sure there were no other problems. And he finished by taking it for a test drive to make sure his adjustments were fine.

Finally, he apologized again and said he was sorry I had to bring my bike back.  He redeemed my faith in Gears.

I just wanted to make sure you were aware of how awesome this type of service is!

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi Gears,

I recently brought my 9 year old road bike into your Mississauga location for a complete overhaul.

After riding it a few times I just wanted to let you know that the mechanic did a great job! The bike rides like it’s brand new!!

Thanx for the great service!!

Lorenzo

Hey Gears,

Thank you to all of you, from the time I walked in the door Thursday to my fitting and leaving with the bike today. You guys are all true professionals. You made it so comfortable, can’t wait to get our on the road with you.

Thank you again,

Sincerely,
Cameron

Thanks so much. Your terrific Team have really made this a great way to enter this sport –  it started with one great person who couldn’t be nicer and then led to another great person getting me set up with and on my new bike with endless patience and kindness in doing so has not gone unnoticed.  Everyone is so great to deal with ;  I always leave your store with a smile .

Thanks.
Wendy

Hi Gears,

I really appreciate the time you and your team took to make this bike purchase so successful.

I just got back from a Gears store and was amazed at the exceptional service from the team at that location.  Your staff got me all set up (I’ve purchased many bikes and have never been fitted – royal treatment).  One person got me all set up with accessories, and another sold me on the Garmin 800. I would recommend to anyone looking for a bike to make the trek to any of the Gears stores in the GTA. I am very pleased with the overall service, expertise, and patience of your staff.  You’ve got a great crew there.

It’s been a pleasure doing business with you.

Sincerely,
Anita

Hello Gears,

I want to thank you, and your staff for all of the help I received regarding my recent saddle purchase. I was not aware of a Specialized Test Saddle program until you told me.  Your staff were terrific that day, as was another during my re-fit a couple of weeks ago and, as I stated to you on the phone, you will have a continuing customer in me because of the level of service you provide.  I am hardly an elite cyclist, nor do I have a lot of money to spend, yet, I get treated with great respect and courtesy whenever I am there. It does not go unnoticed.

Regards,
Brian

Hey Ira,

I just want to say thanks for all the help this past week with getting me on the road and in to bike season, it was a little bit intimidating going in to a bike store like Gears, but nothing what I expected I only have great things to say about Gears and I will be sending everyone I know to the Port Credit location, service was fast and very helpful.

Thanks again so much
Corey

Hi Ira,

Recently I brought my Roubaix in because of a water bottle fastener problem. Greg suggested sending it to Specialized so I agreed. Maybe you’ve heard the whole story but it turned in to a perfect storm of issues. In typical Gears fashion though the whole debacle was handled very professionally. The bike’s been overhauled and spins like a dream.

Thanks, as always, for the great service.
Pat

Hi Gears,

I just wanted to let you know I stopped by one of your stores on Saturday to meet with a Fit Professional.  He was very helpful, knowledgeable, and informative.  He got me fitted as best he could with my less than ideal hybrid setup and even up-sold me on a fluid trainer.  I was an easy sale J  Anyways, he was very professional and I really appreciated his attention to detail.

Regards,
Rod

Ira/Kevin:

My wife and I were away for the weekend in Halifax at a wedding and are just back but wanted to let you both know that I had a great full century ride last Thursday, with lots of big climbs as part of it. Hot day, but the bike performed beautifully – shifting was great (derailleur problems are resolved) and there were no problems with my rear Zipp wheel after the spoke was replaced. Although it has taken a while to get things put back together after the Dolomite crash, I am delighted with the result.  Also very pleased with the replacement Giro “stealth” helmet. Thanks to you both for all of your help. The guys I ride with want to do another full century this Saturday and I have signed up for the Lake Scugog century at the end of August before I head off for Corsica. So the beat goes on, and I am loving every minute of it!  What a great summer riding on my Carbonio, thanks to Gears!!!

Ken

Last summer I participated in the Tour 4 Kids Ride and wrote to thank you for the support Gears provided me during that ride through Andrew.  Having just completed Barrie Shepley’s camp in Tucson, I am writing once again to thank you for terrific support from Gears, and particularly Derek.

Although many shops talk about supporting cycling, few actually do. But no shop comes close to Gears in its ongoing support of cycling. It must be difficult at times to justify this expenditure, but in the 15 years my kids and I have been involved in recreational and competitive cycling, Gears is the only shop I have seen “walk the talk”; and our sport is better because of that.

Even if I weren’t a Gears customer, I know that at any event where the Gears trailer is parked, your guys are going to be friendly and do their best to give me a hand if I need help. I just know I can count on Gears, and its employees like Derek, to come through with a quick fix, part, or helpful tip. Derek did just that in Tucson this past week with his teaching, coaching, wrenching, trucking, and counseling. He personified what Gears is about – friendly, honest, and down-to-earth people who know (and love) cycling.

Ira, thanks once more for your support of cycling. You’ve made it a much more accessible and enjoyable sport for our family for many years and your reputation as the “top shop” in the GTA is well deserved.

Yours truly,
Ian Bell

I want to say that I have an even more enhanced appreciation for Gears, your operating philosophy/culture and your staff through my recent purchase. You run a tight ship and I like that as a customer. Your staff are respectful of customers and of each other. Ron and Scott are great ambassadors of Gears. I mention those two because I had more interaction with them then others, but all your staff are great. Andrew sent me a link last night for a name sticker company (as an example). They all genuinely care about what they do and it shows. Scott did a great job in the fitting both before (in nailing down the size of bike to order) and after (very minimal adjustments required) the bike arrived. Ron, what can I say! He is amazing. Very knowledgeable and personal with a very committed and caring enthusiasm for what he does. He is excellent!!

Thanks to both you and Kevin for helping me get my dream bike. I really appreciate the extra efforts that I know you had to go through to make this happen. My experience in this purchase was excellent. I’ve “drunk” the Gears kool-aid and I am a reinforced believer!!

Bernie

John,

I had to write you quickly to say “Thanks” for the work you and the Multisport Canada Triathlon team put in.

I took Gears up on their bike fit offer today. Scott worked with me for close to 3 hours and I can’t tell you just how different I feel in the saddle now!  We reviewed the before and after video and there’s a tremendous difference.

Now there’s REALLY no excuse for a slow bike split at any of your great Tri events next year!

Cheers,
Mike Dunbar

I did indeed buy a Guru Flite yesterday at Gears and I look forward to the many hours I will be able to spend on my new bike.  However, the real reason I am writing is to say that the buying experience at Gears was a very enjoyable one.  I was quite surprised to see that Gears carries a very large inventory.  Not to mention that the staff there was very courteous and helpful.  Andrew helped me in buying a bike and I was very happy with the advice he gave me.  I had visited several bike stores before coming to this one, and this one rates the best I have seen.  Even though I live in another area altogether, and I have several bike shops right at my fingertips, it is worth the trip and time to go to Gears!  I wish Gears the best for this cycling year and I will be in again soon!

Regards,
Tom

Good morning Ira,

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your email responses to my million and a half questions.  As a newbie to road bikes, it is truly appreciated.  With your compelling offering of 2009 models along with top-notch customer service from your staff and a professional fitting,  I “pulled the trigger” on the Specialized Roubaix Elite!   The rain prevented me from a test ride, but once I got home the road dried up, so I took my new ride to the streets at 8pm, and was absolutely blown away by this bike.

Not only am I happy with the bike, but I was glad to join the Gears satisfied customer family.

This experience has proved that Gears isn’t just a place to buy a bike.  With the 4 other bike shops closer to my home, I was glad to drive past them to get to Gears.  Your store will be very well recommended to everyone I know.

Thanks again

Hi Ira and Kevin

I raced the Transition for the 1st time yesterday at  the Bracebridge  1/ 2 ironman . The course was very technical and the roads were very rough. We had torrential ran throughout the bike portion of the race and at times there was deep standing water on the road. The bike preformed great and I was able to average over 32 kph.  I was talking to some athletes that had ridden P3′s or Guru Chrono’s and they were all over the road. The transition was easy to handle and I hardly felt the rough roads and I was using a disc on the back.

Great bike.

Hi Ira & Kevin!

I just wanted to thank-you again for your awesome support and providing such awesome service.  You and your entire team have been nothing but exceptionally professional.   I look forward to promoting your business this coming year.  I road the Tarmac indoors for the first time today and it felt fantastic—I can’t wait to ride it outdoors.  Scott did an excellent job yesterday fitting me and making sure that all systems are a go.

I would also like to wish you much success at your big event next weekend.  I know first-hand how much work goes into a major production like yours—I admire your passion in raising both awareness and dollars for such an important cause.

Once again, a huge thanks.

Kevin & The Gears Team,

On September 11, 2005, I completed my first Ironman.  I wanted to thank you and your team for your professionalism, support and encouragement throughout my training.  You ensured the bike was as ready for the race as I was.  For that “one less thing to fret about”, I will always be grateful.  The bike performed amazingly and the time you spent getting the fit right ensured I got off the bike relatively fresh as ready to tackle the run as possible.  Out on the course you could tell those who had a great team behind them.  I count your group as part of the team that got me to the finish.

Thanks!

Shirley

I just wanted to write a quick letter to express my thanks to “Gears” at the Lakeside triathlon in St. Marys this past weekend. An announcement was made by the HSBC organizers informing me that my tire had popped 6 minutes before my swim was to begin, and by the time I ran back to my bike, a support person from Gears had taken the initiative and was changing my tire for me! He swapped out my tube in under 3 minutes and I made it to my swim. What a terrific team you have. Much thanks to Gears for being so prompt and thoughtful, and for making my triathlon a success.

Hi Kevin/Ira

This is not earth shaking stuff but for an “old” keener like myself a very important thing!  I’ve been having serious pain in front of the right shoulder when in Areo position to the point where it interferes with my IM – gets so bad can’t use arm properly or focus on the task at hand!

I tried “fitting” myself to relieve the situation with no success but was convinced it was age related & was getting treated by Ian at SPC - he suggested I visit you guys.  I setup an appointment with Scott – I was skeptical because I felt if it was a fit issue both shoulders should be acting up!

Anyway to the point, Scott did a few what would seem counter-intuitive adjustments and voila my first 2 hour ride I forgot about my shoulder but the jury was still out until I did a longer ride – this Sunday I rode 6 hours pain-free 90% in the Areo position.

Needless to say I’m talking your fit program up with anybody that will listen to this senior!  Thanks a bunch Scott!

Tom
