Dr. Greg Gannon
An everyday endurance athlete and adventurer, Greg has over 20 years of experience as a highly regarded speaker, consultant, educator, scientist and coach in the field of exercise and sport performance. Dr. Gannon will now run the GEARS Performance Centre at GEARS Toronto which opens on November 7, 2011.
Greg’s experience includes national & international coaching and applied sport science service, a decade of senior leadership roles within Canada’s Olympic Sport Institutes, a broad academic background of teaching and research at multiple universities and research institutions, and over 20 years of helping individuals achieve better fitness and sport performance.
His clients are as varied as is his experience, ranging from professional, amateur and recreational athletes to business executives and Olympic coaches. For the past decade, Greg has been a consultant to more than 50 of Canada’s national and provincial team coaches and has been a member of the coaching teams of over 25 Canadian Olympians. For the 2008 and 2010 Olympic Games, Greg served as the lead sport physiologist for Canada’s Olympic Triathlon Team, Women’s Rowing Team, Trampoline Team and Figure Skating Team who together earned 6 Olympic Medals.
Most recently, Greg led the development of multi-million dollar athlete testing and training facilities, applied sport science & medicine support teams and athlete training programs for Canada’s Olympic Sport Institutes in Manitoba and Ontario.
Greg is currently an Associate Professor (adjunct) within the Graduate Department of Exercise Science at the University of Toronto where he guest lectures on topics related to exercise & health science, athletic training & sport performance.
